Substance use day treatment for youth.
DEWY supports youth aged 13-19 who wish to address their substance use by providing them with a community treatment program. The program combines a mixture of therapeutic group process, intentional recreation activities and individual counselling. Working from evidence -based practice, the four pillars of DEWY’s approach to supporting recovery include mindfulness practice, relapse management, values-based living and enhancing motivation towards recovery.

FAQs – DEWY
Participants are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 to 4 hours per week. We recognize that everyone’s journey in recovery is unique and we will work with you to develop a plan to meet your recovery needs.
There are 4 primary streams of groups. Our Connect group offers continual intake and is a space for engaging participants to broaden their perspective and consider new possibilities in their recovery journey as they determine which actions are best for them. The Core therapeutic group is a closed group running for 10 weeks at a time. The Core group focuses on value based living, mindfulness practices, motivation and relapse prevention. Challenge by Choice groups are the third stream. These groups integrate recreational activities in order to integrate skills that can support recovery. Finally, Alumni groups are offered to support connection and the continuation of the recovery journey.
DEWY works to support participants in a collaborative, goal directed way based on their motivations to promote and sustain changes to their substance use. Together with the participant we seek to promote self-awareness to better understand who they are and where things are at, clarify values to identify what is most important to them, understand the internal and external pieces that get in the way, identify and practice tools needed to overcome obstacles, and hone in on how they can best move towards what is important and who and what will support them along the way. Additionally, the experience in DEWY can help prepare participants who are seeking bed-based treatment and can be a resource to integrate what they had taken from bed-based treatment into their home community.
