Youth Outreach Substance Use Counselling
ASTRA supports youth aged 13-19 who are seeking to explore perspectives around their current patterns of substance use and move towards their desired life change. The program meets youth one-to-one on an outreach basis to support the youths goals wherever they are at in their recovery journey. ASTRA counsellors follow a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective to help youth reach goals that promote wellness around problematic substance use. We provide supportive and relational counselling services that match people to programming based on their needs and readiness and commitment to change. ASTRA Youth Outreach Addiction Counselors recognize that each individual sees different benefits and disadvantages to their substance use, and that change is a complex process. As such ASTRA Counsellors partner with youth along the continuum of harm reduction, use reduction and/or abstinence goals.

Eligibility
Youth ages 13 to 24 who want to change their relationship with alcohol/drugs, with an emphasis on youth 13-18.
Entrance Requirements
Youths 13-18 in Chilliwack, Tri-cities, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Surrey, Langley, Cloverdale, Aldergrove, or Delta who have indicated problems with substance use.

The service is free.
We support youth as long as they have a desire to work on substance use goals or are transitioned to adult substance use services.
Astra will come to youth in the community where they are at. We can meet you at school, pick you up from home, we can meet you in the community and we can drop you off after session. Astra is designed to met the needs of youth who are less inclined to meet in office settings.
