The Shift Program, in partnership with Virgin Mobile RE*Generation, provides youth, with barriers to employment, the skills and training to be able to work in culinary jobs.

Program Features

Youth in the program will receive

  • Eight weeks of employability and life skills training
  • First Aid, WHMIS, and Safe Harbour certificates
  • Job coaching and mentorship for 3 months after program completion
  • Workshops to develop financial literacy, resume building, and personal job searches.

Participants will have an on-the-job work experience with one of our high-quality partner companies.
The program is free to participants and they will receive training incentives.

Program Details

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Youth between 16 and 24 years of age at the time of intake/selection who are:

  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted conventional refugee status in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • In need of assistance in order to overcome employment barriers

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

Participants can expect a fun, practical learning environment with a mix of lecture and experiential training. Youth will learn from experts in the field and will gain industry expected certificates. Youth can also expect lots of hands-on culinary skills training!
