Position Summary:

Pacific Community Resources Society seeks a full-time Family Counsellor/FASD/Complex needs Family Counsellor. This position provides information, support and advocacy for families parenting youth with an FASD Diagnosis or a Complex Needs Designation, or is on the Sunny Hill wait list for services. The Social Worker also provides extensive support, education and service coordination with community and service partners. A solid understanding of the complexities of FASD and its’ impact on families and youth is essential. A strong foundation in the understanding that environmental accommodations are highly effective in supporting youth with FASD/Complex Needs is of utmost importance. An understanding of family and community systems, family support and counselling and advocacy skills are essential. The Social Worker also provides a regular parent support group (evenings) and community-based training on FASD. 

Academic and Job Experience Required:

  • BSW, MSW or Equivalent with a minimum of 5years of experience is required
  • Excellent knowledge of /experience with FASD, Community services and public presentation
  • Sound knowledge of/experience with case management, family counselling and support theories                                       

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
  • Valid BC driver’s license with business insurance use
  • Use of own vehicle (mileage is paid)
  • Driver’s abstract must be submitted

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience working in social services and group facilitation
  • Ability to connect with youth and excellent communication skills
  • Community development skills and experience

Work conditions:

  • Flexible work hours, including some evening hours and weekend hours

Salary Range:     $31.32/hour – $35.88/hour, Plus benefit package (100% employer paid)
