Thompson Court offers 15 individual apartment units to youth who face multiple barriers, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and need extra support to independently maintain housing.

Program Features

Thompson Court is a two storey 15 unit apartment building. All apartments are one bedroom. Laundry is available on site. The program has 1.5 support staff on site for core business hours and a caretaker that lives on site in one of the 15 apartment units.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

The program is for youth ages 16 through 24 who face multiple barriers, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and need extra support to independently maintain housing.

LOCATIONS

  • Thompson Court is located in the north east section of the Strathcona Neighbourhood of Vancouver, near the intersection of Clark Drive and East Hastings Street.

Participants can stay up to two years, but must be involved or willing to participate in a work or learning program such as school, life/job skills program, community involvement, volunteerism, or alcohol and/or drug support. The program is designed to help youth transition to independence by providing support with goal setting, life skills, and stability. Participant must be able to pay rent (through work, income assistance, etc.), willing to live in a safe, supported community that is inclusive of people from a diversity of backgrounds: including people who identify as aboriginal, youth of colour, newcomers, youth with various physical and developmental abilities, former youth in care, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, two-spirit, and queer youth.
