The Annex is a temporary residence for up to six youth who are new to independent living.

Program Features

The Annex is a market rental house with seven bedrooms, six of which are for participants and one for a live-in caretaker.
The house aims to fill a gap in the continuum of supportive housing, assisting youth with

  • Development of life skills
  • Goal setting for the future
  • Transition into adulthood

Youth ages 16 through 24.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

Each youth must agree to work with their roommates in achieving a cooperative and harmonious living space, free of discrimination and which embraces diversity.

The participants share two bathrooms, a kitchen, and living space. There are shared chores among the residents, as well as each resident makes a small monthly contribution towards household communal items. There is a monthly mandatory house dinner to discuss any issues and share information.

There is a support worker who is based out of the Broadway Youth Resource Centre office who works with residents one to one. Residents will agree on goals to work on, and meet generally bi-weekly.

There is a no pet policy, and some restrictions around guests.
